The Open Source Ward Weekly (28 October 2025)
Github Trendings:
TOON - Token-Oriented Object Notation

Okay, you’ve just kicked off this cutting-edge, innovative AI project and can’t wait to tell LinkedIn all about it. But you receive your first OpenAI bill. Even though you’re getting closer every day to being eligible for that “1 trillion tokens” button, you can’t help but panic a little.
Fortunately, TOON is here to save the day by helping you cut costs through input token condensation. Pretty cool, right? It’d be even cooler if we could also reduce output tokens since that’s usually where all those massive JSON responses come in. Nonetheless, this is an awesome addition for inter-agent operations!
Btw, here is McKinsey button, maybe they should try TOON.

bentopdf - stop getting online scammed to convert pdf files into pngs
We’ve all been there, just trying to do some simple, stupid thing with PDFs like merging them, only to end up on some shady website out of sheer laziness.
BentoPDF is a privacy-first, client-side PDF toolkit that allows you to manipulate, edit, merge, and process PDF files directly in your browser. No server-side processing is required, ensuring your files remain secure and private.

SO-ARM100 - I'm sure you will find something to do with it

The SO‑101 robot arm, originally designed by the RobotStudio in collaboration with Hugging Face is back with a new easier to assemble version. I'm not too much into hardware things but this seems to encounter a massive success.
LadyBird - N-th independent web browser of the year
I’m a bit tired of independent browsers, to be honest. But it’s one of the trendiest repositories of the week so here it is, enjoy!
